PNG Law Explained does not accept requests for legal representation and does not give legal advice. We are a legal education publisher, not a law firm. We cannot act for you, appear for you, review your documents, assess your prospects, or tell you what to do in your matter.

Writing to us does not create a lawyer–client relationship, and nothing we send you in reply is legal advice. Please do not send confidential material, original documents, or anything you are relying on for a deadline.

What we can help with

Suggest a subject. If a question keeps coming up in your community, workplace or organisation and there is nothing useful written about it, tell us. Reader questions are how the article list gets set.
Report an error. A repealed Act described as current, a section number that has moved, a procedure that has changed, a broken link. See how to report one below.
Ask about reuse. Requests to reproduce, translate or distribute articles — particularly for community legal education, schools, churches and NGOs. See the copyright terms.

What we cannot help with

Advice about your own legal problem, however briefly put
Acting for you, or appearing in any court or tribunal
Reviewing, drafting or commenting on your contracts, letters or court documents
Assessing whether you have a good case, or what a matter is worth
Recommending a particular lawyer or firm
Contacting a court, the police, an employer or a government body on your behalf

Urgent situations

If you are in danger, or a person is in custody, or you face a deadline in days, do not wait for a reply from a website. Go to the police, a hospital, a Family Support Centre, or the Public Solicitor. See urgent help.

Reporting an error

Accuracy matters more here than volume. If something on this site is wrong, out of date or misleading, we want to know — and corrections that identify a source are acted on quickly.

The most useful correction tells us four things:

The page — its title or address.
The passage — quote the sentence.
What the correct position is.
The source — an Act and section, or a case citation.

This is a small project. We read everything, but we cannot promise a reply to every message, and we will not reply at all to requests for advice on a personal legal matter — not out of rudeness, but because answering would be giving legal advice, which is exactly what this site does not do.
